32-year-old Liezel Betitta has been arrested for cutting off her husband's penis with a pair of scissors because she was convinced he was having an affair. She believed he was sexually involved with a friend's wife at a building from where he worked in Iloilo City, the Philippines so after her husband, Mark, went out drinking with friends after work then fell asleep at a friend's house, Liezel went over there and found him.

A suspected thief identified as one Wisdom was caught by members of a vigilante group at Ajogodo, Sapele for allegedly stealing a car stereo last Wednesday night. He was brutally beaten by the group before being taken to the Police Station.

Herdsmen have invaded the home of Nigerian writer, Prof. Wole Soyinka, and this will not be the first time such will happen. Last year, the Nobel laureate revealed that his home had been invaded by the herdsmen and hoped there will not be a repeat. Sadly, it's happened again.

The Lagos state police command have arrested two men,  Osaro Egbomrewen and Michael Eyeoekpe, in connection with the death of an Uber driver , Innevosa Emmanuel, who was strangled to death at the Ogba area of the state recently. Parading the suspects before newsmen today, the state police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, said the suspects had posed as passengers and ordered for a taxi using the Uber application. The deceased had arrived their location in Ikeja and was instructed to take them to their destination at Ogba, Oke-Ira.

205 members of staff at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been suspended and placed on half salary, after the consideration of a report by the Disciplinary Committee set up to look into an interim report by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing some of its officials of fraud during the 2015 General Elections. INEC claims N3 billion was spent in bribing electoral commissioners in 16 states during the 2015 general election.

A Kogi state based blogger, Austin Okai, has been arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate court in the state for allegedly publishing defamatory reports about the state governor, Yahaya Bello. Okai who was arrested on Monday April 10th and transferred to Lokoja, the state capital, was yesterday arraigned in court on charges of circulating reports accusing the state governor of buying cars worth $12m for traditional rulers and commissioners, orchestrating rumors of the governor's death, and inciting the public against the stae governor.

At least seven people were killed on Tuesday afternoon, April 11 , in a fatal accident which occurred at the Enugu-Otukpo roundabout. It was gathered that a truck loaded with yam fell on a Volkswagen popularly known as Golf 3 killing all occupants including a child.

Nigerian cleaner jailed in Dubai for nearly battering man to death

A Dubai Court last Sunday sentenced a Nigerian cleaner to one year in prison for nearly killing a man. The 29-year-old cleaner battered the victim’s head with a stick following a heated argument and caused him a haemorrhage in May 2016. The victim, whose nationality remained undisclosed in records, was taken to hospital where doctors performed urgent and life-saving surgery on him as he had suffered a haemorrhage.

The 50-year-old petty trader who was killed by a police officer attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos was buried on Tuesday, April 11th, after an autopsy was conducted on her corpse. Late Mrs Kudirat Adebayo was shot and killed as the officer reportedly was chasing suspected 'Yahoo boys' on April 5th near a railway line at Onipanu bus stop. It was gathered that the officer was trying to arrest the two men suspected to be internet fraudsters. As he argued with the suspects, one of them freed himself from the officer's grip and fled. The cop gave chase and then started shooting sporadically. More photos below...
